Social Sketching: Columns & Coffee at The Us Botanic Garden

United States Botanical Garden
100 Maryland Ave, SW
Washington DC 20001
10:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Columns & Coffee is a monthly social sketching excursion led by the L’Enfants, the emerging architects branch of the ICAA-WMA. This month we will be sketching at the United States Botanic Garden. The Botanic Garden currently features nearly 10,000 plant species, many of which are housed in the eight garden rooms within the main conservatory. The conservatory itself was built by the Architect of the Capitol and prominent greenhouse designers Lord & Burnham in 1933. The enormous glass and metal structure is a unique departure from the marble buildings the rest of the National Mall is known for. In addition to sketching, we encourage our participants to enjoy the annual Season’s Greenings exhibit, which features a showcase of poinsettias and models of other DC landmarks.

We will meet at the Starbucks at the corner of 3rd & D Streets at 10:00am. We will be sketching for about 2.5-3 hours, but people are welcome to come and go as they please.
