Join the ICAA for an exclusive inside lunchtime tour of the Islamic Center of Washington. Opened in 1957, the mosque was designed by Professor Mario Rossi, a noted Italian architect who built several mosques in Egypt. The diplomatic community played a leading role in the construction of the embassy. Egypt donated a bronze chandelier and sent specialists who decorated the walls and ceilings with Qur’anic verses.  The tiles came from Turkey along with the installers.  The Persian rugs came from Iran.

Plan to arrive 10-15 minutes prior to our 11:30 start time.  Please note that proper attire should be worn.  Men should wear long pants, and women should wear pants or long skirts. A top that covers arms and shoulders and a scarf for a headcovering are required as well.   Attendees will need to remove their shoes prior to entering the mosque.
