The Oak Spring Garden Foundation is a living legacy of Rachel Lambert “Bunny” Mellon—renowned designer, horticulturist, and philanthropist. Bunny Mellon’s contributions to garden history are known around the world. While she is perhaps most famous for her work on the gardens at the White House, it was at her Little Oak Spring home in Upperville, Virginia, where Mrs. Mellon gardened as a form of self-expression.
Oak Spring is delighted to welcome the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art for a guided tour of this extraordinary place. The visit will include a look at the beautifully renovated Broodmare Barn, the formal garden designed by Mrs. Mellon, and a peek inside her formal residence, where she lived and welcomed many distinguished guests. The tour will also include time in the Oak Spring Gallery, where a special exhibition exploring Mrs. Mellon’s relationship with President John F. Kennedy will be on view. Guests will also have the opportunity to browse the Oak Spring Gift Shop, featuring a curated selection of books and gifts.
