Join the ICAA for a private curator-led tour of the Peacock Room designed by James McNeill Whistler in 1877 but located inside of the Freer Gallery of Art in the National Museum of Asian Art since 1923. Originally designed by the artist to showcase his client’s Chinese blue-and-white porcelain collection, the room marries its avian motif with a striking use of color inspired by the arts of East Asia. On this tour experience this immersive work of art, explore the controversy around its creation, and hear of the room’s travels from London to Detroit to its final home in Washington, DC. Join us to learn more about how the Peacock Room is cared for in its permanent home and how it influenced a generation of designers.

Free for ICAA Members. Space is limited!
