Compass Real Estate

Classicism and the stone carving tradition are strongly intertwined.  The buildings we regard as great achievements of classical architecture may have been created by architects, but they were executed by stone carvers.  Please join John Russell Pope Award-winning stone carver Chris Pellettieri as he shares his insights on some of the crucial issues of stone carving and architecture today.  Some of the topics Chris will discuss are: how the stone carving tradition has changed through history; the impact of technological advances; what is in store for the future of stone carving; and how architects, builders, and their clients can work with stone carvers to add character, nobility, and distinction to their projects.

This program is generously sponsored by Grassi Pietre SRL, a family-run Italian company whose Vicenza limestone has been celebrated since the time of Andrea Palladio. Grassi continues to restore Palladio’s villas and landmarks across the Veneto, while supplying stone for some of the world’s most renowned names in architecture and design.

Refreshments will be served.
