Netflix’s show, House of Cards is known not just for its lurid portrayal of life inside the beltway, nor for compelling performances from Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright. It’s also remarkable for the beautiful, richly-detailed sets depicting public and private Washington.
ICAA members are exclusively invited to tour these sets, which in seasons past have featured the White House’s private and public spaces (the residences, oval office, press room, etc.), Air Force One and various homes and offices of the show’s key power players.
The tour will be led by a member of the stage design/set decoration team. The tour will address the rigor with which the design team has recreated some of Washington DC’s most iconic classical spaces; as well as address how lighting, proportion,, and depth are used to create the visual interest on the small screen.
The studios are in Joppa, Maryland, which is approximately 90-100 minutes’ drive from the DC area.
Spaces are limited. This tour is for members only. Cost: $125
