Washington Masonic Memorial
Columns & Coffee is a monthly social sketching excursion led by the L’Enfants, the emerging architects branch of the ICAA-WMA. Anyone with an interest in sketching and/or connecting with other artists and architects are encouraged to attend. In May, we will be sketching at the George Washington Masonic National Memorial.
Modeled on the Lighthouse of Alexandria and dedicated to one of the Freemasons’ most famous members, this memorial was originally intended to be a Masonic temple that would house the local lodge’s collection of Washington memorabilia. It eventually developed into a national memorial and was under construction for nearly 50 years, with its interiors finally finished in 1970.
Participants should be prepared to bring their own materials.
We will meet at the Uptowner Café at 1609 King St, Alexandria, at 10:00am.
We will be sketching for about 2.5-3 hours, but people are welcome to come and go as they please.
