Saturday, November 11th
10am - 1pm
The Renwick Gallery
Pennsylvania Avenue and 17th Street NW.
We will meet at the Peet’s Coffee across the street at 10:00 a.m.
Columns & Coffee is a monthly social sketching excursion led by the L’Enfants, the emerging architects branch of the ICAA Washington Mid Atlantic Chapter.
Anyone with an interest in sketching and/or connecting with other artists and architects are encouraged to attend. This month, we will be sketching the Renwick Gallery. Once known as the “American Louvre” and famously “dedicated to art,” the building has housed many different occupants and organizations since its completion in 1859. Today, it serves as the craft and decorative arts branch of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and its classical interiors create a dynamic juxtaposition with the contemporary art displayed therein.
Participants should be prepared to bring their own materials.
We will be sketching for about 2.5-3 hours, but people are welcome to come and go as they please.
