Social Sketching: Columns & Coffee at the Organization of American States

Saturday, October 14th
10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Pan American Union Building
200 17th Street, NW
Washington, DC 20006

Columns & Coffee is a monthly social sketching excursion led by the L’Enfants, the emerging professionals branch of the ICAA-WMA. Anyone with an interest in sketching and/or connecting with other artists and architects are encouraged to attend.

This month, we will be sketching the Pan American Union Building, which is the headquarters of the Organization of American States. This turn-of-the-century building is an early piece of the McMillan Plan and the first major American commission for Paul Cret. It is also notable for its incorporation of historic Central/South American cultural motifs in its Beaux Arts façade and interiors. Participants should bring their own materials.

We will meet at the Starbucks at 20th and E St NW at 10:00 am. We will be sketching for about 2.5-3 hours, but people are welcome to come and go as they please.
